Viewing Devices in the Summary View

The Summary view is a card-based layout that provides you with a graphical representation of the site-level device information.

To navigate to the Summary view, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. In the site context, click Network.

    The List view is displayed on the site dashboard. See Viewing Devices in the List View

  3. Click the summary icon.

    The Summary view is displayed.

The Summary view displays the following cards:

LAN

The LAN card displays the count of devices at a site in good, fair, and poor health using icons. The count is grouped based on the device type and device health.

Listed below are the device health icons displayed in the LAN card.

Icon

Description

The devices are in good health based on the device metrics.

The devices are in fair health based on the device metrics. For example, an AP is in fair health when one or more radio metrics of the AP such as the channel utilization, noise floor, and channel quality is fair.

The devices are either offline or in poor health based on the device metrics. For example, an AP is in poor health when it is either offline, or when one or more AP metrics such as the CPU, memory, radio channel utilization, radio noise floor, and radio channel quality is poor.

Top Access Points

The Top Access Points card displays the top 5 access points based on insights such as AP wired uplink usage, wireless client usage, and the total usage (in bytes) for a given site. The APs are listed based on data for the last 3 hours. By default, the temporal filter is set to Last 3 hours.

The radio bands (such as 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) and wired/wireless usage is displayed through distinct colors on the card. Clicking on the AP name takes you to the respective AP dashboard.

In the drop-down of the temporal filter, you can change the timescope by selecting one of the following options:

  • Last 3 hours

  • Last 1 day

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

Changing the timescope refreshes the top access points with the most usage in the specified period.

Services

The Services card displays the health, service type, and IP address of the available network services at a site.

Listed below are the service health icons displayed in the Services card.

Icon

Description

The service is in good health.

The service is in fair health based on certain service parameters.

The service is either offline or in poor health based on certain service parameters.

To view all the services, click the expand icon in the Services card. The following image shows the expanded view of the Services card.

To select the fields to display in the expanded view, click the Customize Columns icon. The following table describes the fields in the Services card.

Field

Description

Service Type

Displays the service health icon and the service type.

IP Address

Displays the IP address where the service is hosted.

Status Reason

Displays the reason for the device health status. A reason is not displayed when the device is in good health.

Radios

The Radios card displays the following information:

  • The number of radios by band—The total number of radios available in the site. It consists of a donut chart which represents the distribution of radios by band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz). Hovering over a section of the donut chart displays the number of radios in that frequency band in a tooltip.

  • The number of radio channel changes by reason—The total number of changes made to the radio channel. It consists of a donut chart which represents the distribution of reasons why the radio channel was modified. Hovering over a section of the donut chart displays the number of times a radio channel change took place for a specific reason in a tooltip.

  • The number of radio transmit power changes by reason—The total number of changes made to the radio transmit power. It consists of a donut chart which represents the distribution of reasons why the radio's transmit power was modified. Hovering over a section of the donut chart displays the number of times a radio's transmit power change took place for a specific reason in a tooltip.

By default, the temporal filter is set to Last 3 hours.

In the drop-down of the temporal filter, you can change the timescope by selecting one of the following options:

  • Last 3 hours

  • Last 1 day

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

Changing the time period refreshes the donut chart for the channel changes and the power changes in the specified period.

Expanded Radios Card

To view more information about the radio distribution, click the total number of radios at the center of the donut chart, or click the expand icon.

On the expanded radios card page, by default, you can see the Radio, Channel Changes, and Power Changes tabs in the list view. To switch to the summary view, click the summary icon to see the Channel and Power Distribution tabs.

Based on the selected time range, the data displayed in the table refreshes.

The following table describes the fields in the expanded Radios card.

Field

Description

Access Point Displays the name of the access point.
Band Displays the frequency band of the radio (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz).
Mode Displays the mode of the radio (client access, tri-radio, and so on).
Channel Displays the channel assigned for the radio.
Channel Changes Displays the number of channel changes that has occurred in the radio. You can find more information about each power change by clicking the Channel Changes tab at the top of the pop-up.
Power Displays transmit power of the radios measured in decibel-milliwatts.
Power Changes Displays the number of power changes that has occurred in the radio. You can find more information about each power change by clicking the Power Changes tab at the top of the pop-up.
Radio MAC Address Displays the MAC address of the radios connected to the AP.
Channel Quality Displays the channel quality of the channel assigned for the radio.
Channel Utilization Displays the channel utilization of the AP for the selected radio frequency.
Clients Displays the number of associated clients.
Noise Floor Displays the noise at the radio receivers of the AP radio.
Transmitting Displays the percentage of data transmitted by the radio.
Receiving Displays the percentage of data received by the radio.
Non-WiFi Interference Displays the percentage of interference for the radio, from non-WiFi devices, for the corresponding radio frequency.
Retries Displays the percentage of retries for the radio band on the AP.
Drops Displays the percentage of drops for the radio band on the AP.

Note:

The Transmitting, Receiving, Non-WiFi Interference, Retries, and Drops columns are not visible by default and need to be enabled using the customize columns option. For more information, see Table Utilities.

Expanded Radios Card - Summary View

Channel Distribution

This chart displays information on the frequency at which each radio channel operates.

Note:

Channel distribution chart is implemented based on IEEE standards. This chart tracks radios only in UP state.

You can quickly filter the charts for each Wi-Fi Band; 6 GHz, 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz by selecting an option under Band.

When you hover over a colored cell, you can see the radio count and channel number.

Power Distribution

This chart displays the power distributed across each radio. Hovering over the bar displays the configured power and the number of radios configured for each band at that time.

Filtering Devices in the Expanded Radios Card View

To filter devices, you can either use the search bar or the quick filter. Type the keyword in the search bar to find your devices, or use the quick filter to filter devices as per the band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz), status (Up, Down, and Disabled), or any combination of the options.

Note:

The keyword search functionality is only applicable to the Access Point, Band, Mode, Channel, Power, and Radio MAC Address columns.

Additionally, to search for devices using advanced filters, access the Filters pop-up window by clicking the filter icon, select the filter criteria with respect to Health, Mode, and Bandwidth and then click Apply.

WLANs

The WLANs card lists all configured wireless networks (SSIDs) for all AP devices, indicating whether each SSID is enabled (active) or disabled (inactive). It also indicates the status of the WLANs and the security levels configured for different radio access modes.

The following table lists the WLANs card parameters:

Parameter

Description

Name

Displays the name of the WLAN SSID and indicates the WLAN status as one of the following:

  • —Enabled

  • —Disabled

Security Level

Indicates the security level configured for the WLAN. For example, Open, Personal, or Enterprise.

Band

Displays the band on which the WLAN is broadcast.

VLAN Displays the VLAN assigned to the WLAN.

You can perform the following actions in the expanded WLANs card:

  • View the WLAN status and related details for different access mode radios; click 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz checkboxes.

  • Click the WLAN name to open the respective WLAN Details page. You can view the Throughput graph with WLAN properties such as status, security level, security, band, and VLAN configuration details.

    The throughput graphical data gets refreshed based on the time range that you select in the temporal filter. If the selected time range is 3 hours or 1 day, the throughput data aggregation is for 5 minutes. But for time ranges greater than one day, the data aggregation is for three hours.

  • Customize the columns in the list; see Customizing List.

  • Export the table data in CSV format; click Table Menu > Export
