Alerts

The following new features and enhancements are added to Alerts:

  • Radio alerts for APs are split into separate alerts for each radio band as listed below:

  • Alerts List View:

    • Device column is added to the alert list table.

    • Under Quick Filters, all severity levels are selected by default.

  • Set Priority and Defer alerts—You can now set the alert's priority and defer alerts from the alert side panel and alert context screen.

  • The following alerts are added to the Alert Management page:

    • AP Tunnel Down

    • Radio Failure

  • Network Overview page > Alerts card—You can now click on the alert name to view the list of sites reporting offline APs. For more information, see Network Overview.

AP Monitoring

The following enhancements are added to AP monitoring:

  • Tunnels—The AP network dashboard now supports a single card for the LAN and WAN tunnels. The Tunnels card displays the status of the overlay tunnels configured from the AP device to a branch gateway or VPNC. Prior to this release, details for the LAN and WAN tunnels were displayed under two separate LAN and WAN tunnel cards respectively.

  • The Summary card in the AP alerts dashboard now displays the following information in the alert description:

    • For AP Tunnel Down alert:

      • Name of the tunnel that is down

      • AP and destination device name of the tunnel

      • Reason for the tunnel being down

    • For Radio Failure alert—AP [hostname] detected [actualCount] out of [expectedCount] radios. Operational radio band(s): [radioBand1], [radioBand2]

Application Visibility

The Applications dashboard List view now includes the Active and Inactive quick filters:

  • Active—Displays the list of applications or websites accessed within the last 15 minutes. Enabled, by default.

  • Inactive—Displays the list of all inactive applications or websites.

Enabling or disabling both—Active and Inactive, lists all applications and websites.

Central NAC

The HPE Aruba Networking Central NAC enables network administrators to manage, monitor, and configure cloud-based NAC. For more information, see Central NAC.

Enhancements to AP System Profile

You can now set the Logging category and the message security level for each category for the AP System profiles.

The following new logging categories are added to the AP System profile:

  • AP-Debug

  • Network

  • Security

  • System

  • User

  • User-Debug

  • Wireless

Enhancement to Troubleshooting Tools

The HPE Aruba Networking Central UI provides users with the following set of additional diagnostic tools for switches to troubleshoot network and device issues efficiently:

  • MAC Table

  • Neighbor Table

The following features and enhancements are added to Audit Trail:

  • Audit logs for closed Remote Console sessions is no longer supported.

  • Audit trail entries are available for Remote Console sessions, as well as every test run from the UI, reboot, and locate device actions.

    Note:

    Session Failed action is supported for incorrect password failure only.

  • Users can now launch Troubleshooting tools by clicking the icon on the Devices table.

Enhancements to Unified Clients List

The following quick filters are now enabled by default in the Clients list view:

  • For Status—Connected filter is enabled by default.

  • For Type—Wireless and Wired filters are enabled by default.

Enhancements to Unified Device List

The following enhancements are added to the Devices table:

  • All the quick filters above the Devices table are pre-selected by default.

  • Hovering over a row entry in the Devices table displays a Troubleshooter icon and an Ellipsis icon for additional device actions.

  • The Action menu of the Devices table now supports an Export option.

Enhancements to Device Inventory

The following enhancements are added to the Device Inventory table:

  • All the quick filters above the Device Inventory table are pre-selected by default.

  • The Device Inventory table now includes a Subscription column for the device entries.

  • The Action menu of the Device Inventory table now supports an Export option.

Enhancements to Audit Trail

The following enhancements are added to Audit Trail:

  • The Audit Trail table now includes a Destination Name column.

  • Audit Trail now supports a Show Difference option, accessed by hovering over a table row and clicking the ellipsis icon. This option opens a pop-up that displays additional information about the Audit Trail table entry.

Insights

The following new features and enhancements are added to Insights:

  • Power Save Recommendation for Access Points insight—The Devices on the FloorPlan - Access Points screen is enhanced to display icon colors for on-demand coverage and constant coverage APs. For more information, see Power Save Recommendation for Access Points.

  • Allowlisted Alerts—The following alerts are no longer allowlisted:

    • DNS Server Failed to Respond

    • DNS Server Failed to Resolve Domain

    • DNS Server Response Delayed

  • Association Max Client Threshold Configuration insight—In the Actions tile, users can click the View Floorplan button to view the access points on the Floorplan. For more information, see Association Max Client Threshold Configuration.

  • Network Overview > Insight card—The following enhancement has been made to the expanded view of the Insight card:

    • Search Bar—Enables the users to search for a site using keywords.

    • Category Quick Filter—Enables the user to filter the insights by category such as Wireless, Wired, Security, and Application.

  • The 24 Hours tab will not be shown for the insights listed below if they were not triggered during the last 24 hours or there is no data:

    • Wireless Client Connectivity Experience

    • Application Performance Analytics

    • Association Max Client Threshold Configuration

    • Wired Client Connectivity Experience

    • Roaming Insight

  • Gateway WAN Uplinks Have Higher Latency Than Comparable Peers insight—You can now download the Gateway Specific WAN Uplink Latency Comparison list by clicking the Download CSV button. For more information, see Gateway WAN Uplinks Have Higher Latency Than Comparable Peers.

  • Roaming Recommender—The insight provides a thorough review of client roaming behavior and the potential impact of activating Fast Transition (FT). Users can now optimize network performance by examining roaming information, client distribution (FT-capable and non-capable), and expected latency improvements. For more information, see Roaming Recommender.

Support for Migration of a Site

HPE Aruba Networking Central supports migration of a site from Classic Central. Migration is the process of transferring VisualRF data from Classic Central to HPE Aruba Networking Central. This encompasses essential elements such as the floorplan, devices situated on the floor, walls and regions, as well as the planned access points. Importantly, the site name will serve as the building name in HPE Aruba Networking Central, facilitating a seamless alignment of all floors in the Classic Central site with the corresponding building in HPE Aruba Networking Central. Enhancements to Gateways Cluster Capacity Card

HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports AP details in the gateways cluster Capacity card that displays connected APs and the percentage of gateway capacity occupied by this cluster. Each tunneled AP device (unique MAC) consumes one AP resource within a cluster and counts against the cluster’s published AP capacity. For more information, see Cluster.

Enhancements to Floorplan

HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports importing CAD layers into the floorplan. The maximum number of walls you can select is 1000. For more information, see Creating Initial Floor and Building.

Enhancements to Layers Panel in Floorplan

The Layers has been enhanced to include Signal Cut-Off drop down list and Channel Occupancy. Signal cut-off enables you to filter the floorplan based on signal strength. This option to display coverage area of the signal strength as excellent, good, fair, and poor.

The Channel Occupancy drop-down list enables you to avoid any kind of channel collision between two nearby APs on the floor. It helps you to avoid any kind of channel overlap and accordingly allows you to fix the overlapping areas by either moving the channels or by changing the channel numbers.

Additopnally, you can now display the signal strength and coverage area on the floorplan in less color intensity by selecting the new Monochromatic check-box.

Enhancements to Central NAC

The following new features and enhancements are added to Central NAC:

  • The Central NAC Monitoring page now includes a Time Range Selector that you can use to change the time range for the data. For more information, see Monitoring Central NAC.

  • In the Top Sites by Authentications card, the sites are now sorted according to the number of authentications in descending order. The site with the most authentications is listed first.

  • The Identity Store card displays the health status of the store and relevant error messages under the Status column.

  • The All Request card has been renamed to Authentication Requests by Type. This card now displays the total number of authentication requests for All, Clients, Visitors, and Users.

Reports

The following new features and enhancements are added to Reports:

  • The following additional KPIs are introduced for Client Session reports:

    • Client Session Data by Role

    • Client Session Data by VLAN

    • Client Session Data by Connection Mode

  • The Advanced Time Slicing option is now available for Last Month. This feature allows you to select the days from the Days over the week option and set a time range.

  • The Additional Preferences section is introduced under the Preference page. You can use this section to customize the filters and columns for your report.

  • Audit trail support is available for Reports. Audit logs are created whenever a report is created, cloned, edited, or deleted. New filter options have also been introduced under Category, Sub-category, and Destination.

Third-Party Devices

HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports seamless monitoring and management of third-party devices that allows you to view telemetry data such as device states, statistics, and events from a variety of network devices.

Note:

HPE Aruba Networking Central currently supports only third-party switches. Future updates will add support for other device types.

Bridge Device

HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports Bridge devices in the network. These devices can be monitored through detailed dashboards and cards corresponding to specific parameters of the device.
