Alerts

The following new features and enhancements are added to Alerts:

  • The Priority column is added to the Alerts List view.

    Priority can now be mapped based on the severity, as listed below:

  • Alerts Summary View—The summary view provides a visual overview of alerts. You can view the chart for the following use cases:

  • The following alerts are added to the Alert Management page:

    • All AP Tunnels Down

    • All Radios Disabled

  • Alerts List View: If an alert is not triggered for 60 minutes, it will be automatically moved to the cleared list. For now, this is implemented for 802.1X Authentication Server Timeout alert.

Insights

  • In the Alert Dashboard page, the Action card is now added to the following alerts:

    • DHCP Discover Timeout

    • DHCP Offer Timeout

    • DHCP Request Timeout

    • DNS Server Failed to Respond

    • DNS Server Failed to Resolve Domain

  • Access Point Firmware Recommendation Insight—In the Firmware Recommendation Summary - Access Points table, you can click on the recommended version to view the release notes for that version. Also, the insight has been enhanced to show the popularity of the recommended firmware chart. For more information, see Viewing Access Point Firmware Recommender.

  • Switch Firmware Recommendation Insight—In the Firmware Recommendation Summary - Switch table, you can click on the recommended version to view the release notes for that version. Also, the insight has been enhanced to show the popularity of the recommended firmware chart. For more information, see Viewing Switch Firmware Recommender

  • Gateway Firmware Recommendation Insight—In the Firmware Recommendation Summary - Gateway table, you can click on the recommended version to view the release notes for that version. Also, the insight has been enhanced to show the popularity of the recommended firmware chart. For more information, see Viewing Gateway Firmware Recommender

  • Wired Client Connectivity Experience Insight—The Impacted Clients table has been enhanced to display the OUI Year column.

  • Wired Client Connectivity Experience Insight—The insight has been enhanced to display the impacted clients by OS details. For more information, see Wired Client Connectivity Experience.

  • Enable or Disable Alerts: The AIOps alerts can be enabled or disabled from the Alert Management page. For more information, see Configuring Alerts.

AP Monitoring

The following new features and enhancements are added to AP monitoring:

  • LAN Tunnels—The AP network dashboard now includes support for the LAN Tunnels card. This card displays the status of the C2C overlay tunnels that are configured from an AP device to a branch gateway. Additionally, it displays the details of the encapsulation type, source, and destination device.


  • Connectivity Performance and Health—The Connectivity Performance and Health cards now display the following AP health reasons:

    • If all the radios of the AP are disabled, then the AP health is displayed as All radios are disabled, regardless if it is in Dual, Flex, or Split mode configuration. Prior to this release, if all the radios of the AP were disabled, the cards displayed the health status as Good Performance. For more information, see Tunnels.

    • If all the tunnels of the AP are down, then the AP health is displayed as All tunnels are down.

Note:

If all the tunnels of the AP are down and all the radios are disabled, then the AP health is displayed as All radios are disabled.

Application Visibility

The following enhancements are added to the Application Visibility:

Enhancements to Audit Trail Table

The Destination column in Audit Trail table now displays information depending on the context.

Example:

  • When you create, update, or delete a site from Classic Central or from HPE Aruba Networking Central, the Destination column displays Site.

  • When you add or remove a device to a site in Classic Central, the Destination column displays Device.

  • When you create or delete a HPE Aruba Networking Central group in Classic Central, the Destination column displays DeviceGroup.

  • When you add or remove a device from a HPE Aruba Networking Central group in Classic Central, the Destination column displays Devices.

  • When you create, update, delete, or add or remove sites from site collection, the Destination column displays SiteCollection.

Enhancements to Devices Table

In the Devices table, you can click on the device name of devices that are part of HPE Aruba Networking Central group to change the context of the page to devices. This column also displays the device status.

Enhancement to Searching with Advanced Filters

The Filters pop-up window displays the geographical location of the sites and the number of sites available at each location. The number of sites are dynamically updated.

Enhancements to Search

The AI Search feature is now accessed from a search bar, located at the top of the HPE Aruba Networking Central UI. For more information, see Search.

Additionally, the Search Results table now displays tabs for Applications and Alerts based on the search query. For more information, see Search Results.

Enhancements to Filters Option in Sites

The Filters pop-up window now displays the geographical location of the sites and the number of sites available at each location.

Enhancements to vSphere Integration

The compute dashboard, as part of the vSphere integration in HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports monitoring of hosts in addition to virtual machines. For more information, see Compute Dashboard and Viewing Hosts in the List View.

Enhancements to Table Quick Filters

The table quick filters in HPE Aruba Networking Central have a updated design and now support any combination of quick filters between and within the filter category.

Enhancements to Gateway Dashboard

The gateway dashboard now displays a Cluster card for gateways that are part of cluster deployments. You can view information about the cluster members and their roles. For more information, see Cluster card.

Profile Management

The following new features and enhancements are added to the profile management:

  • Profile management now supports AP Uplink Profile card that allows you to create and manage AP uplink profiles.

  • Some parameters related to radio are now moved from System > AP System profile to Wireless > RF Profile. The release upgrade will clear all AP System profiles created prior to the September release.

    • If you have AP System profiles created prior to the September release, then complete the following steps:

      1. Navigate to Profile Management > System > AP System.

      2. Click Create Profile.

      3. Reconfigure the AP System parameters.

    • To reconfigure the parameters moved from AP System to RF profile, complete the following steps:

      1. Navigate to Profile Management > Wireless > RF.

      2. You can either edit an existing RF profile or create a new RF profile.

      3. Reconfigure the following parameters:

        • Access Point Installation Type (Automatic is now the default installation type).

        • UTB Filter Block

        • Channel and Transmit Power Assignment

        • Dual/Flex Radio Flex Configuration for AP-340, AP-550, AP-600R, AP-600H, and AP-610 Series:

          • 1st Radio

          • 2nd Radio

          • 3rd Radio

        • External Antenna

Switch Monitoring

The following enhancements are introduced for switch monitoring.

  • Connectivity Performance—The expanded view of the Connectivity Performance card allows users to view information for a specific LAG interface. Also, separate graph is available for unicast transmitted and received packets.

  • Wired Interfaces—The expanded view of the Wired Interfaces card displays details of unmanaged devices.

  • Hardware—The Hardware card displays the details of power supply units and fans that are down.

Reports

The following new features and enhancements are added to Reports:

  • Capacity Planning, Client Session, and Network Usage reports are introduced under the Infrastructure category.

  • The following additional KPIs are introduced for the Resource Utilization report:

    • Top Sites by CPU Utilization

    • Top Sites by Memory Utilization

  • The following additional KPIs are introduced for the RF Health report:

    • Top Sites by Poor Radio Statistics

    • Top Access Points by Problem Radios

    • Top Access Points by Channel Quality

  • The RF Health report displays the Band Range for dual-band 5 GHz frequency. The report also displays the Avg. Channel Quality and Site details for all the KPIs.

  • By default, the Preference page selects Sites as the Scope of the report.

Enhancement to Troubleshooting Tools

The following enhancements are introduced to audit logs for Troubleshooting tests.

  • Audit Trail—Audit Trail entries are also available for every test run from the UI, reboot, and locate device actions.

  • Parameters Include Reverse, Source Interface, Omit, Parallel, and UDP are added for iPerf test for gateways.

Sites Card Dynamic Sizing

The size of the Sites card on the Network Overview page automatically adjusts to the combined height of the adjacent tiles in two rows. Also, the last item on the Sites card aligns with the last item on the adjacent tile (Alerts, Insights, or Licenses) on the second row. For more information, see Monitoring Health.

Incremental Access Point Deployment

At the floorplan context, under Actions drop down list, a new option called Place Devices is added to place APs either manually or automatically based on your requirement. This feature enables you to add or remove APs after the initial workflow to place the devices on the floorplan that has been completed. For more information, see Automatic AP Placement and Manual AP Placement.

Planning Access Point Deployment

Location Services now provides the capability to plan access point deployment and provisioning them before the actual deployment. Administrators can manually pick suggested positions of APs, check the RF heatmap for the planned APs, and then modify the AP positions. For more information, see Planning Access Point Deployment and Importing Floors.

HPE Aruba Networking Central User Roles - RBAC Support

HPE Aruba Networking Central now provides complete role based access for different components in the application. It supports a set of built-in roles with different privileges and access permissions. You can also configure custom roles. For more information, see HPE Aruba Networking Central User Roles for Location Services.
