Alerts

The following features and enhancements are added to Alerts:

  • Duration Column—A new Duration column is added to Alerts List View table. The column displays the duration for the current active alert instance. For more information, see Viewing Alerts in List View.

  • Duration—The Summary card on the Alert Dashboard now displays the duration of the current alert instance. For more information, see Summary Card.

  • Defer Until—You can now set a duration to delay the notification or resolution for a specified period.

    You can defer the alert from the following pages:

  • Baseline for MAC Authentication Timeout Alert—It allows you to establish a timeout failure baseline for peer groups of tenant sites. Tenant sites are clustered depending on internal server percentage, overlay percentage, and roaming clients. The baseline is evaluated using one week's worth of data, taking into account the trends and progression of timeout failures throughout the day. The baseline is calculated using a weighted mean and standard deviation to create a tolerance level for detecting unusually high timeout failures that cause alarms.

  • The following switch alerts are added to the Alert Management page:

    • Stack Member Added

    • Stack Member Removed

    • Broadcast Traffic Utilization

    • Multicast Traffic Utilization

Cards on Network Overview Page

The cards on the Network Overview page are reorganized and re-sized to enhance the overall usability of the dashboard. The Alerts card, Device Health card, and Device Inventory card are displayed in the first row. The site assignment donut chart on the Device Inventory card is removed because it contained redundant information similar to that of the device chart.

Create Walls

You can now create customized walls at the global level and use them across sites available globally in a specific account from the Floorplan Management tile. Click Manage to launch the wall creation dialog box. Unlike system generated walls, these customized walls can be modified or deleted based on your requirement. Enhancements to AP Configuration

An AP inherits the country code from the site when the country code is set to Automatic in the AP System Profile. Similarly, an AP inherits the timezone from the site when the timezone is set to Automatic in the AP System Profile. For more information, AP System Profile.

Enhancements to AP Monitoring

The following enhancements are added to AP monitoring:

  • The AP device and connectivity performance health is now calculated based on the following considerations:

    • Severity of the alert generated for the AP device

    • Priority of the health metric for which the alert is generated

  • The AP Properties card now displays Mode and Default Gateway in the expanded view.

    For more information, see Properties.

  • The expanded view of the Tunnels, Wireless Interfaces, Wired Interfaces, Services, and WLANs card in the AP network dashboard now allows you to export the table data in CSV format.

  • The Frames graph in the expanded view of the AP Connectivity Performance card for Wired interfaces now displays the absolute value for frame Errors, Drops, and Retries along with percentage.

  • The Events card in the AP dashboard now supports the following events:

    • Access point <AP name> is offline

    • Access point <AP name> is online

    • Access point <AP name> rebooted

Enhancements in Central NAC

  • While uploading CSV files for a MAC Address Store, you cannot upload files with more than 5 MB. For more information, see Editing an Identity Store.

  • While creating a policy, the Identity Store options are available based on the selected Policy Type. For more information, see Creating a Policy.

  • The Sites page displays the full list of sites. The Site NAC Monitoring page displays a dashboard of various NAC Monitoring cards. For more information, see Monitoring Central NAC.

  • You can search for an authentication profile based on all the visible columns in the Authentication Profile page. For more information, see Configuring Authentication Profiles.

Enhancements to Client Tags

HPE Aruba Networking Central now supports location-based client tags. You can specify the site, building, and floor in the tag. For more information, see Managing Tags Using Create Tag Button

Enhancements to Create Building and Floor

You can now move an existing building to a new address across locations. You can use the Search bar available in Create Building page. Alternatively a building can also be moved manually by dragging and dropping it in the required location. While creating a building you can now assign type to a building.

The zoom in and zoom out functionality is now enhanced to accommodate all the buildings available across locations in your account at the site context.

Enhancements to Device Configuration Page

For device configuration page, the configuration icon is displayed only if a device is either part of the Central 3.x group or has the Device Function persona assigned from the Device Inventory page.

Enhancements to Gateway Alerts

The following new alerts are supported for gateways:

  • Gateway Interface Collision Error

  • Gateway Interface CRC Error

  • Gateway Interface Giants Error

  • Gateway Interface Runts Error

  • IPSec SA Down

  • IPSec Establishment Failure

Enhancements to Gateway Cluster

For gateways clusters, you can now view the orchestrated LAN tunnels between the nodes of a gateway cluster. The LAN Tunnels summary card displays the list of the gateways in the cluster and the number and health of LAN tunnels for each node. The expanded view of the LAN Tunnels card displays additional tunnel details, such as tunnel name, gateway model, encapsulation type, source and destination IP address, and destination device.

Enhancements to Gateway Configuration

You can configure the following profiles for a gateway:

  • DNS server profile

  • VLAN profile

  • L3 VLAN profile

  • System administration profile

  • Authentication server profile (RADIUS and TACACS)

  • User administration profile

  • NTP server profile

  • STP profile

Enhancements to Gateway Events

The following new events are supported for gateways:

  • Gateway joining cluster

  • Gateway leaving cluster

  • Process crashed/restarted

Enhancements to Import Floors

While importing floorplans from Classic Central, AirWave, or Ekahau, you can customize the building and the floor properties of the imported building and floor respectively. You perform all the functionalities like searching sites, moving buildings, moving floors similar to a newly created building.

Enhancements to Search

The following enhancements are added to the Classic Central Search feature:

  • A text field for feedback when you click the like or dislike icons on the Search Results page.

  • A No<attribute>found for this query. error message when, the search query does not have a match.

Enhancements to Switch Configuration

The following enhancements are added to Switch Configuration:

  • You can now configure Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) profile for AOS-CX switches. For more information, see BFD Profile.

  • You can now add a VLAN Name when creating a VLAN profile for switches. For more information, see VLAN Profile.

  • You can now assign Access Switch, Core Switch, or Aggregation Switch as a Device Function for Switches. For more information, see Device Function.

  • When you onboard an AOS-CX switch and move to the New HPE Aruba Networking Central group, any pre-configured basic connectivity configurations will be imported automatically from switch to HPE Aruba Networking Central.

Enhancements to Switch Monitoring

The following enhancements are added to Switch monitoring:

  • The expanded view of the AOS-CX switch VLAN card now displays the VRF column. For more information, see VLAN.

  • The switch's CPU health and memory health are now calculated based on severity and threshold conditions of the alerts configured on the device. For more information, see Switch Health Metrics.

  • The 8325P Switch Series is now supported in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

  • The client Experience card now displays the status of wired clients assigned to special roles as Connected, along with failure reason and assigned special role type. Also, in the expanded view of the Connectivity Card, under Connectivity Steps section, client connectivity path health is displayed as fair for clients assigned to special roles. This is supported only in AOS-CX switches running 10.14 and later versions. For more information, see Health and Connectivity.

Enhancements to Third-Party Device Support

You can now move a third-party device from one site to another in HPE Aruba Networking Central by updating the site name in OpsRamp.

Enhancements to Troubleshooting Tools

The HPE Aruba Networking Central UI provides users with the following additional diagnostic tools to troubleshoot network and device issues efficiently:

  • Route Table test for AOS-CX Switches

  • AAA Tests is enabled for AOS-CX switches.

For more information, see Using the AOS-CX Switch Troubleshooter.

  • HTTPS test using IP-SLA is enabled for AOS-CX switches.

  • Troubleshooting tests are added to help you diagnose and fix issues related to Bridge connectivity.

Enhancements to Unified Device List

The Classic Central Unified Device List (UDL) summary view now supports a Wireless Summary card, which displays the total number of radios available in the site. Additionally, you can click the expand icon to view more information about the radio distribution.

Events

The following features and enhancements are added to Insights:

  • Filter by Event Name—You can now filter the events by event name. Filtering by event name can now be done at site, access point, gateway contexts.

    For sites, see Events card for Site.

  • Export Events Table as CSV—You can now export the Events table to CSV format. Exporting is supported in both device and client contexts, for all timelines.

Foundation License Restrictions in Central NAC

The following are some of the restrictions for foundation license in Central NAC:

  • You can configure only one external identity store. This is a restriction for Identity Management. For more information, see Creating an Identity Store.

  • You can configure only one identity store for EAP and MPSK policies. For more information, see Configuring Authentication Profiles.

  • You cannot modify the EAP-TLS Client Valid Days field. For more information, see Configuring EAP-TLS Profile.

  • BYOC configuration is not supported.

  • You cannot modify the pre-conditions and only few attributes are supported for the User Policy and Client Policy. For more information, see there are Creating a Policy.

Gateway Cluster Profile

The Gateway Cluster Profile option under the High Availability card simplifies gateway cluster configuration and management, enhancing failover handling, load balancing, and overall performance. This option ensures high availability and network resilience while improving gateway efficiency.

Gateway System Profile

The Gateway System Profile option under the System card defines and manages key system-level settings, including authentication, firewall, and network interface configurations, enhancing security, consistency, and operational efficiency across deployments.

Insights

The following features and enhancements are added to Insights:

  • Network Overview > Insights Card—The card is enhanced to display a donut chart representing insights based on categories such as Wireless, Wired, Security, and Application. For more information, see Insights Card.

  • Wireless Client Connectivity Experience insight—A new OVERALL tab is added to Latency per connectivity stage graph. You can use this tab to view the overall WLANs latency during authentication and DHCP stage. For more information, see Wireless Client Onboarding Experience.

  • STP Anomaly Recommender—The insight offers proactive insights by recognizing any STP anomalies in the customer's network and recommending best practices for addressing them. For more information, see STP Anomaly Detection.

  • Insight Card on the Site Dashboard—The Site Dashboard is now enhanced to display the insight card. For more information, see Navigating to the Site Dashboard.

  • Network Detection-Abnormal Data Download insight—This insight displays anomalies detected in data downloads for IoT clients. For more information, see Network Detection Abnormal Data Download.

  • Network Detection-Abnormal Data Upload insight—This insight displays anomalies detected in data uploads for IoT clients. For more information, see Network Detection Abnormal Data Upload.

Reports

The following new features and enhancements are added to Reports:

  • The following additional KPIs are introduced for Capacity Planning reports:

    • Top Devices by Capacity

    • Top Sites by Capacity

    Currently, these KPIs are supported only by switches.

  • The following additional KPIs are introduced for Client Session reports:

    • Client Session Data by Model or OS

    • Client Session Data by Vendor

    • .Client Session Data by Cipher

    • Client Session Data by Device and SSID

    • Top Clients by Usage

    • Top Sites by Client Usage

    • Client Session Data

  • The Max and Average Wired Usage KPI is introduced for Network Usage reports.

  • Under Additional Filters, the Exclude Devices option is available for Network Usage and Capacity Planning reports. A maximum of ten devices can be selected.

  • Bar-chart and multi view are available for the Top Applications KPI for Application Analytics reports.

Site Movement for Bridges

You can now move bridges from one site to another. Navigate to the Device Inventory page and assign a site to a bridge using the Device Assignment side panel.

Third-Party Switch Alerts

Third-party device health services are processed based on few alerts. When there is any issue the alerts send notification and the same is reflected on the site health dashboard.

Following are the three new supported third-party switch alerts:

  • Memory Utilization—Generates an alert when the switch memory utilization exceeds the threshold value.

  • CPU Utilization—Generates an alert when the switch CPU utilization exceeds the threshold value.

  • Switch Offline—Generates an alert when a switch is offline in the network.

Updated Reasons List of Health Status

The following reasons are added to the list:

  • Moderate CPU utilization on x devices

  • Moderate memory utilization on x devices

The following reasons are removed from the list:

  • High hardware temperature is noticed on x devices

  • Fan is offline on x devices

  • Power budget exceeded on x devices

  • Power supply failure is noticed on x devices

  • Uplink ports are offline on x devices

  • High uplink congestion is noticed on x devices

  • High interface errors are noticed on x devices

  • High interface utilization noticed on x devices

  • High port utilization with frame drops on x devices

  • Suboptimal uplink congestion is noticed on x devices

  • High port utilization on x devices

  • High broadcast/multicast traffic on x devices

  • Severe stack issues in x switch stacks

  • Moderate stack issues in x switch stacks

  • High interface frame drops on x devices

  • Critical routing issues on x switches

  • Routing issues on x switches

WLAN SSID Profile for Tunnel Mode Deployment

The WLAN SSID profile streamlines the configuration of wireless networks in tunnel mode, ensuring consistent security policies and authentication methods across deployments. This enhances network management, access control, and seamless connectivity for client devices.
