QoS (Shaper) Trends

Monitoring > Bandwidth > QoS > Trends

The Shaper Trends tab provides a detailed overview of traffic management for selected appliances in your network. The charts display key metrics related to how network traffic is shaped and controlled over time for a selected traffic class. It shows the total volume of traffic arriving at the shaper, how much traffic is allowed to pass through, the packets dropped due to shaping constraints, and the average delay that packets experience while queued.

These statistics can help you monitor the effectiveness of traffic shaping policies, identify congestion or bottlenecks, and optimize network performance.

The following terms relate to the shaper feature.

Term Description
Total Bytes Total number of bytes that arrived at the shaper during the selected period. This is the aggregate of shaped and dropped bandwidth.
Shaped Bytes Number of bytes allowed through the shaper during the selected period according to configured shaping policy. This is the bandwidth that passed through the shaper and was transmitted.
Shaped Packets Number of packets allowed through the shaper during the selected period according to configured shaping policy. These are the packets that passed through the shaper and were transmitted.
Average Wait Time (ms) Average time, in milliseconds, that packets spent waiting in the shaper queue before being transmitted or dropped during the selected period.
Drop Packets Number of packets dropped by the shaper queue during the selected period. Packets are typically dropped because they expire after exceeding the allowed queue time.
