Setting up Twilio as SMS Provider for Cloud Guest

This technote provides guidance on configuring Twilio as SMS provider and integration with Cloud Guest. Enabling Twilio as the messaging provider administrators can deliver secure and reliable SMS notifications to guests with their access credentials. The document outlines the prerequisites and configuration steps on Twilio and Cloud Guest to ensure seamless communication and an improved guest onboarding experience.
Signing up for a Twilio account
The first step is to register for a Twilio account to be able to get access to the Twilio console. To rgister for a Twilio account please visit https://www.twilio.com/login and click on Sign up.
Fill in the details in the form and click on Continue. Note that you will recieve a code to the email address to verify your email.
After verifying your email, you will be redirected to the Twilio Console. Please note that this is a trial account, and you will need to upgrade to a suitable Twilio plan based on your business requirements.
As part of the onboarding process, you will be guided through a few on-screen prompts, such as selecting your business type and role. For questions relevant to the Cloud Guest integration, you can choose the options suggested below.

Purchasing a phone number
The next step is to purchase a phone number. From the account dashboard, navigate to Manage → Buy a Number. Select your country and choose a number from the available list. If you prefer specific digits, an area code, or other criteria, you can use the search option to find suitable numbers. You can choose the phone number and proceed to buy.

You will need to upgrade the trail account before you can purchase a number. Please contact Twilio if you have any issues and need assistance with purchasing a phone number.
Creating Messaging Service
Navigate to Messaging > Services and click on Create Messaging Service.
Enter a Messaging Service Name and select Verify Users under “Select what you want to use Messaging for” and Click on Create Messaging Service.
Advance to Step 2 and Add Senders. Select the Sender Type as Phone Number and click Continue
Purchased phone numbers will appear in the list of available numbers. Select a number and click Add Phone Number and procced to Step 3: Setup integration.
Under Integration, select Receive the message as the method for handling inbound messages, and leave the remaining fields at their default values and advance to Step 4: Add compliance info.
Click on Complete Messaging Service Setup then click on Try sending a message on the prompt after completing the Messaging Service Setup.
If you successfully receive the SMS on the test phone number, you can proceed with configuring Cloud Guest to interact with Twilio.
Setting up Cloud Guest to interact with Twilio
Navigate to Manage > Guests > SMS Provider on your Cental tenant. Enter the Twilio Account, Twilio Authentication Token and Twilio Default Service values and click on Save. Twilio Country Service Overrides is an optional value and needed only when you want to use a different message service for a particular country.
These values can be found in the Twilio Console as shown in the below images.
Enter a phone number in the Phone Number text box and click Test SMS. If the setup is correct, you should receive an SMS on the specified phone.
