Interfaces Tab
Configuration > Networking > Interfaces
The Interfaces tab lists the interfaces for appliances selected in the appliance tree. Fields available in the table depends on the selected filter button that is located immediately above the table.
The All button displays all hardware and dynamic interfaces for the selected appliances.
Descriptions of the fields on this tab (All, Hardware, Dynamic, USB LTE) follow:

| Name | Name of the interface. |
| Status | Status of the interface (up or down). |
| LACP Status | Link aggregation status of the interface (up or down). This status applies only to bonded interfaces (blan0, blan1, bwan0, and bwan1). This field is displayed only if the channel group is in LACP mode. |
| IP Address/Mask | IP address for the interface. |
| Public IP | Public IP address for the interface. |
| Segment | Name of the configured segment being used. |
| DHCP | Indicates whether this interface’s IP address is obtained from the DHCP server. Displays as Yes, No, No data (not configured), or Invalid data (error condition). |
| Speed | Current interface speed state and setting. |
| Duplex | Current interface duplex state and setting. |
| MTU | Maximum number of packets being transmitted. |
| MAC Address | MAC address applied to the interface. |
| SNMP IfIndex | Index number of the network interface. |
| Type | Port type (RJ45 or SFP). Drop-down box appears on interfaces with Combo ports. RJ45 is the default for Combo port. NOTE: Combo ports apply to hardware interfaces only. Combo ports are not applicable to VLANs (virtual interfaces), so in those cases, this field appears blank. |

Best practice is to assign static IP addresses to management interfaces to preserve their reachability.

Duplex should never display as half duplex after auto-negotiation. If it does, performance issues and dropped connections will occur on the appliance. To resolve, check the cabling on the appliance and the ports on the adjacent switch or router.

To directly change interface parameters for a particular appliance, click the corresponding edit icon, which opens the Interfaces dialog box for the appliance.

To change the IP address for a lan or wan interface, either use the Appliance Manager Configuration > System & Networking > Deployment page or the CLI (Command Line Interface).

To change the IP address for mgmt0, either use the Appliance Manager Administration > Basic Settings > Hostname/IP page or the CLI.
Descriptions of the fields on this tab (PoE) follow:

Terminology
| Interface | Description |

| blan | Bonded LAN interfaces (as in lan0 + lan1). |
| bvi0 | Bridge Virtual Interface. When the appliance is deployed in-line (Bridge mode), it is the routed interface that represents the bridging of wan0 and lan0. |
| bwan | Bonded WAN interfaces (as in wan0 + wan1). |
| tlan | 10-Gbps fiber LAN interface. |
| twan | 10-Gbps fiber WAN interface. |
PoE (Power Over Ethernet)
This table appears only for interfaces that support PoE.

| PoE Status | Detection status. Settings include Searching, Delivering, or Disabled. |
| Priority | Priority status. Priority determines the interfaces that receive power when power is over-subscribed on the appliance. Setting of 0 denotes highest priority. |
| PoE Class | Power class of the interface. |
| Voltage (V) | Total voltage available on the appliance. |
| Current (A) | Total current available on the appliance. |
| Power (W) | Total power available on the appliance. |
Interfaces Dialog Box
The dialog box that appears depends on the selected filter button located immediately above the table.

When all, Hardware, Dynamic, or USB LTE is selected, the Interfaces dialog box appears. Use this dialog box to change configurations for the specified interface.

When PoE is selected, the PoE Configuration dialog box appears. Use this dialog box to modify the configuration interfaces on the specified appliance.
The All Interfaces button displays all interfaces for the appliance, including both assigned and unassigned hardware interfaces. MAC addresses indicate assigned interfaces.
Descriptions of the fields on this dialog box follow:
Hardware

| IP Address/Mask | IP address for the interface. If the address is blue, you can click it to open the Deployment dialog box, from which you can change IP addresses/masks. |
| Public IP | Public IP address for the interface. |
| Segment | Name of the configured segment being used. |
| Speed (Mbps) / Duplex | Current interface speed and duplex settings. auto means auto-negotiation, which is the process by which terminating devices automatically negotiate for maximum bandwidth. |
| State | Current interface speed and duplex states. |
| MTU | Maximum number of packets being transmitted. Click this field to change the value. |
| MAC | MAC address applied to the interface. To unassign the MAC address, click the field and select Unassigned. |

Dynamic

PoE Configuration Dialog Box
The PoE Configuration dialog box modifies the configuration on interfaces located on the specified appliance. Configuration parameters include:
Power Mode: Specifies power management and priority parameters for appliance PoE interfaces. The following mode options are available:
- Dynamic, without pre-allocation and no priority
- Static, no priority
- Dynamic with pre-allocation and no priority
- Dynamic with pre-allocation and priority
- Static with priority
- Dynamic without pre-allocation and with priority
Individual Power Mode settings include:
Dynamic Mode: Power budget calculations are performed based on power that Powered Devices are currently consuming.
Static Mode: Power budget calculations are performed based on the class of the Powered Devices. Power consumption by Powered Devices is not considered.
Pre-Allocation: When connecting a new Powered Device, power budget calculations are based on the maximum power consumption of the class. If the sum of the current power allocated and the maximum power of the class is outside this budget, the device is not powered. When Pre-Allocation is disabled, the device is allowed to connect and make decisions based on consumption.
Port Limits: Individual ports can have maximum power draw limits set. Ports that exceed the power limit are be denied power.
Interface: The name of the interface modified by corresponding parameter settings.
Enable PoE: Specifies the PoE enable status of the correlated interface.
Automatic Bandwidth Detection
Starting with Orchestrator 9.7.0, the Interfaces tab includes support for manual bandwidth measurement on WAN interfaces through Automatic Bandwidth Detection. In this release, bandwidth testing is manual and on demand. Scheduled or automatic testing is not included.
Prerequisites
Before you can run a speed test on a WAN interface, ensure the following conditions are met:
- The WAN interface has a valid IP address configured on the Deployments tab (Configuration > Networking > Deployments).
- The WAN interface has internet access. Automatic Bandwidth Detection uses Cloudflare-based speed test services to measure bandwidth, and the test cannot complete without internet connectivity.
Running a Speed Test
Automatic Bandwidth Detection allows you to manually measure the available download and upload bandwidth of a WAN interface. This helps validate actual link performance against expected or provisioned circuit capacity.
Speed tests are supported only on WAN-side interfaces that have valid IP addresses configured on the Deployments tab. They are not available for LAN or non-WAN interfaces. Speed test controls appear in the Speed Status column only for supported WAN interfaces on appliances running a supported software version.
Speed test controls can be run in the Speed Test column when any filter other than PoE is selected, on the interface dialog box, and in the deployment workflow. During initial appliance installation, you can run a speed test from the Deployments tab to measure circuit capacity and use the results when configuring interface bandwidth values.
To run a speed test:

Navigate to Configuration > Networking > Interfaces.

Locate the WAN interface you want to test.

In the Speed Status column, click Run speed test.
While the test is running, Orchestrator displays a spinner in the Speed Status column and disables the run button on all other interfaces. Only one speed test can run at a time.
IMPORTANT: Speed tests leverage Cloudflare-based speed test services. Test traffic runs passthrough unshaped and is not subject to the EdgeConnect QoS engine, traffic shaper, or configured license bandwidth. Because the test runs wide open to measure actual WAN capacity, it can temporarily affect other user traffic on the link.
This behavior is intentional. If shaping or license enforcement were applied, the test could report only the configured limit instead of the available bandwidth supplied by the WAN connection. Use the result to determine whether interface bandwidth settings or appliance licensing should be adjusted.
A speed test usually completes within about a minute, depending on link conditions.

To stop a test before it completes, in the Speed Status column, click Stop speed test.
When a test is stopped manually, the Speed Status column displays Stopped.
If the test does not complete within 6 minutes, it times out and the Speed Status column displays Failed.
If a speed test does not complete successfully, the Speed Status column shows Failed in red, and Orchestrator displays an error message describing the failure.
NOTE: Speed tests are user-initiated and run on demand. Automatic or scheduled testing is not included in this release. Users with read-only RBAC permissions cannot initiate or stop speed tests.
Speed Test Results
When a speed test completes, the Speed Status column displays the latest measured download and upload bandwidth values inline. To view detailed results, hover over the interface row to display a tooltip with up to 5 of the most recent successful test results. Each entry in the tooltip shows the following:

These values represent the available bandwidth detected during the test interval and can be used to assess how closely link performance aligns with expected circuit capacity, configured bandwidth values, and appliance licensing. Speed test results persist across tab refreshes.
NOTE: A speed test reports an instantaneous, on-demand measurement of available bandwidth at the time of the test. It is not a continuously learned or averaged value.
Automatic Bandwidth Detection — Scope and Limitations
Automatic Bandwidth Detection Phase 1 includes the characteristics in the following table.
