Route Labels
Configuration > Overlays & Security > Route Labels
You can create route labels and apply them to static or announce-only routes. You then associate the route labels with one or more IP SLA rules. The IP SLA rules monitor specific destinations to dynamically control the status of static or announce-only routes. Using route labels with IP SLA rules improves network reliability by preventing traffic from being sent to unreachable destinations.
-
Upgrades and new deployments are shipped with a default route label of “Internet.”
-
All route labels are available on all appliances.
-
By default, if all IP SLA rules associated with a route label are in the DOWN state, the label will go DOWN, causing all routes assigned to it to also be marked DOWN and be removed from the routing table. If you set the IP SLA Condition to ANY, the route label and assigned routes will go DOWN if any linked IP SLA rule associated with the label is in the DOWN state.
Using route labels with IP SLA rules is a three-step process. You must:
-
Create a route label. See Route Labels Dialog Box. (If you need to create a route, see Routes Tab.)
-
Apply the route label to a static route. See Routes Tab.
-
Associate the route label with an IP SLA rule. See IP SLA Tab.

By default, if all IP SLA rules associated with a route label are in the DOWN state, the label will go DOWN, causing all routes assigned to it to also be marked DOWN and be removed from the routing table. If you set the IP SLA Condition to ANY, the route label and assigned routes go DOWN if any linked IP SLA rule associated with the label is in the DOWN state.
