Route Label Status

Monitoring > Summary > Route Label Status

The Route Label Status tab provides an at-a-glance view of the status of all route labels. It shows whether each route label is UP or DOWN, based on the status of the associated IP SLA rules. This tab helps users quickly determine the reachability of critical routes and applications.

The IP SLA Condition on the route label determines whether the label should be marked DOWN if all IP SLA rules are DOWN or if any IP SLA rules are DOWN.

IP SLA Condition Description
ALL If all IP SLA rules associated with a route label are in the DOWN state, all routes assigned to that label are marked DOWN and are removed from the routing table.
ANY If any IP SLA rule associated with a route label is in the DOWN state, all routes assigned to that label are marked DOWN and are removed from the routing table.
  • Route labels do not impact routes received from BGP, OSPF, or fabric peers.

  • Route labels can only be applied to locally configured static routes.

  • You can apply one label per static route.

To create a route label, click Edit Labels in the tab header. The Route Labels dialog box opens.

To create a route, click Routes in the tab header.

To create an IP SLA rule, click IP SLA in the tab header.

To refresh the status, click the Refresh icon.

NOTE: The default label called “Internet” is a built-in route label used to manage the status of routes related to internet connectivity. It is typically associated with a default route (0.0.0.0) to dynamically control its availability based on the status of IP SLA rules.

Route Labels Dialog Box

Add, edit, or delete a route label from this dialog box. You can create up to 127 route labels.

Add a Route Label

  1. Click Add Label. A new row is added to the table.

  2. Click in the new cell in the Label column and then enter a name for the route label. Route Label names can be up to 15 characters and contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores.

  3. Press Tab or click in the new cell in the IP SLA Condition column, and then select ALL or ANY.

By default, if all IP SLA rules associated with a route label are in the DOWN state, the label will go DOWN, causing all routes assigned to it to also be marked DOWN and be removed from the routing table. If you set the IP SLA Condition to ANY, the route label and assigned routes go DOWN if any linked IP SLA rule associated with the label is in the DOWN state.

  4. (Optional) Click in the Comment field and enter a comment.

  5. Click Save.
