EC-V Host System Requirements Based on Bandwidth

The following table outlines the EC-V hypervisor requirements based on bandwidth needs with or without WAN Optimization.

How much
SD-WAN BW† do you need?
Processor Cores (>3 GHz) Memory (DDR4 or better) Pre ECOS 9.3.4 / 9.4.3 Storage Requirements
(Disk 1 for ECV / Network Memory Disk 2 for WAN Optimization††)
ECOS 9.3.4+ / 9.4.3+ Storage Requirements
(Disk 1 for ECV / Network Memory Disk 2 for WAN Optimization††)
Up to 1 Gbps 4 Cores 16 GB 30 GB / 70 GB 60 GB / 70 GB
Up to 2 Gbps 4 Cores 16 GB 30 GB / 70 GB 60 GB / 70 GB
Up to 4 Gbps 8 Cores 16 GB 30 GB / 70 GB 60 GB / 70 GB
Up to 6 Gbps 16 Cores 64 GB 30 GB / 70 GB 60 GB / 70 GB

†Bidirectional, full duplex (symmetrical ingress and egress) WAN bandwidth. Compiled from performance tests spanning UDP & TCP testing in both SD-WAN fabric and Breakout (passthrough) scenarios. Recommended SD-WAN Bandwidth assumes average packet size of 1400 bytes.

††Pre ECOS versions 9.3.4/9.4.3 upgraded to ECOS 9.3.4+/9.4.3+ do not require an upgrade to the 30 GB disk (ECOS disk 1) and will continue to operate as usual. Only new OVA installations of 9.3.4+/9.4.3+ deploy a 60 GB disk.
